Another one of those very intelligent fellows, creative, on the edge, ahead of his time in many ways. Not many dull moments when Roy was around. We worked together for a short while in the 70's installing solar heating systems. The guys called him "The Royatola" due to his long bushy beard, long hair, but mostly because of his attitude.... he's was never one to back off, especially when it came to verbal sparring. I became a family man and Roy left the solar biz. Next I heard from him he was a bouncer at Mabuhay Gardens in the city. Then he was road manager for Flipper, a punk rock band. Last I talked to him 20 something years ago he was calling from New York City and living there, bartending maybe? Not too long after that I'd heard he'd passed away.
Sorry to hear that Roy is gone. I was very fond of him in high school and remember his kind and gentle side. He was one of a group of us who sewed peace doves on the back of our graduation gowns before the ceremony. With loving memories.
