Barbara Tueller (Steuble)

Barbara Tueller (Steuble)Our mother and friend, Barbara Tueller Steuble, passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at the age of 63. She was born in San Mateo, CA on September 14, 1953 to the late Virginia L. (Kupelian) and Edward E. Tueller.
In 1954 the Tueller family moved to Burlingame where Barbara spent the majority of her young years. She was a cheerleader in high school and enjoyed life with her older brother John. She attended Utah State University then pursued her nursing AA degree at the College of San Mateo. She worked at Mills Hospital, while getting a bachelor degree in nursing at Sonoma State and a master’s degree in nursing at UCSF.
One holiday season her brother invited a fellow Naval flight doctor named Roger Steuble to a Tueller thanksgiving dinner. Following that dinner John’s wife Becky urged Barbara to send cookies and letters to Roger while he was stationed on an aircraft carrier. Barbara and Roger began dating and eventually were married on Treasure Island in October of 1988.
Following her marriage with Roger, they moved to the small town of Jackson, CA where Roger would start his private medical practice. In Jackson, Barbara quickly made friends with various groups of people in the community and just recently celebrated her 25-year anniversary with Sutter Amador Hospital. She also worked as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Samuel Merritt School of Nursing in Oakland until the time of her death. She greatly enjoyed sharing her love of nursing and caring for people with others.
Barbara became pregnant and had Bradley in the spring of 1992. She was very supportive and helpful in a handful of volunteer organizations during his schooling. She went on field trips, made sandwiches for the football team, and respected Bradley’s wishes of never chaperoning a dance. Barbara opened her arms and home; she deeply cared for Roger’s two children, Laura and Brian. She treated them like her own and enjoyed the love and support they have provided her and the family. Barbara had a great sense of pride for all three of the children and she constantly put their needs ahead of her own.
Barbara loved to vacation. Memories of going on cruises with her mother and other members of her family along with countless trips to Hawaii are very fond to her.
She enjoyed shopping. Whether she was buying something for herself, her family, or using shopping as a social outing with her good friends; she never had a problem spending some money! She even has a jar in her room labeled “Born to shop”.
Barbara was a very generous and gracious person. She was happiest in life when she was able to make others around her happy. She had a very strong sense of humor, something that she carried with her still in her final hours. Her faith in God carried her and her family throughout her life, something too she never lost. She was so loving and caring and will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege to know her.

Barb was always so very nice and kind. I was new to Millbrae/Burlingame and I recall Barb always being friendly to me. I never saw her without a smile on her face. So kind.

The best part of Barb's life was the focus of GOD in her life.  Centered in Christ, knowing that Jesus died for her sins...100% of them!  That is how Barb was saved and in heaven, not by being a good person or living a life as a nurse.  It always feels like a punch in the stomach when I read about one of us dying.  The joy with Barb dying is that someday because of faith in Jesus she is rejoicing with all the angels and arch angels.  Thanks be to God for His amazing gift of Barb and salvation for all who believe.  Proverbs 3:5&6

I am very sad to hear of Barb's passing. She befriended me when I was new in the neighborhood in 6th grade, and I remember her family fondly. We had a lot of fun together that year, then went separate ways in junior high and high school. My condolences to her family and friends; what a terrible loss!

I was so sad to hear of Barb's passing.  She was a true friend who lived accross the pink bridge and up the hill from me.  We attended school together from K through 12 (Hoover, BIS and then Mills).  George Skells is correct that we used to have a great time with Barb and we were often together with another close friend, Jodi Lombardi.  Her entire family was known to mine and they were great friends and neighbors.  With feelings sincere sorrow, Rest in Peace, Barb.
